Generation Hope Expands to New Orleans

Generation Hope is an innovative DC-based organization that engages education and policy partners to drive systemic change and provides direct support to teen parents in pursuit of higher education as well as their children. Generation Hope's programming applies a holistic, two-generation approach that ensures student parents have the opportunities to succeed and experience economic mobility.

This year, Generation Hope has decided to expand its services to New Orleans, serving 25 teen parents on the ground here this summer!

Beloved Community is excited to announce its commitment to Generation Hope's expansion to New Orleans c/o Founder + CEO Rhonda Broussard, by way of the Highland Project's Highland Legacy Fund. Rhonda is a proud member of the inaugural Highland Leaders cohort, which represents 15 innovators from across the nation, sectors, & generations who are building their legacies for our health, planet & voice. The Highland Project is an organization focused on building and sustaining a pipeline of Black women leading communities, institutions, and systems, resulting in the creation of multi-generational wealth and change in their communities.

Each year, the Highland Legacy Fund invests $100k in every leader with the goal to to improve, pilot, launch, and expand solutions that will result in the creation of generational wealth in Black communities. After meeting with the team at Generation Hope, Rhonda felt even more certain of the impact that the work of organizations like Generation Hope could have in New Orleans.

Generation Hope provides wraparound support to young parents in college and their little ones so whole families can build legacies of opportunity and employment through educational attainment. New Orleans is home to so many amazing people and organizations doing wonderful work that is complementary to Generation Hope's mission - including members of the NOLA C.A.R.E.S. collaborative Agenda for Children, For Providers by Providers, and Louisiana Policy Institute.

Founded in 2010, Generation Hope works directly with young parents earning their college degrees and with their young children to prepare them for kindergarten, advocates nationally for the unique needs of student parents and their families, and partners with colleges and universities to provide technical assistance in order to advance student-parent success in higher education.

We look forward to welcoming Generation Hope into our beloved community, and the collective impact we will make.
