Sending Love to Lake Charles: Donations & Other Support Programs.

In this moment, we are sending abundant love and support to the folx in Lake Charles and the surrounding area. Ten people were killed and dozens of homes were damaged after Hurricane Laura moved ashore as a Category 4 storm just days ago.

The people of Southwest Louisiana are undeniably resilient but Mother Nature regularly tests this region. Our job? Send the supports we can.

If you are interested in learning more about where to donate time, supplies, or financial resources, please explore these links below:

The Cajun Navy Relief & Rescue
The mission of Cajun Navy Relief is to save lives. A group of volunteers who work tirelessly without pay (using personal equipment) to provide immediate rescue and relief during natural disaster. They are taking monetary donations as well as supplies.

Second Harvest Food Bank
Thousands have been impacted and displaced by Hurricane Laura. Second Harvest is responding to the need in Lake Charles and southwest Louisiana. Every $1 donated helps Second Harvest provide 4 meals to someone in need.

Mercy Chefs Hurricane Laura Response
Your gift will ensure Mercy Chefs is able to provide maximum relief through meals for the victims of Hurricane Laura.

United Way of Southwest Louisiana Disaster Relief Fund
UWSELA is requesting public donations of basic hygiene supplies and small children’s toys for Hurricane Laura evacuees located in New Orleans. UWSELA is also accepting financial contributions.

Samaritan's Purse is responding to the great need in four southwest Louisiana locations—Lake Charles, Jennings, DeRidder, and DeQuincy. Samaritan's Purse mobilizes staff and equipment and enlists thousands of volunteers to provide emergency aid to victims of tornadoes, hurricanes, wildfires, floods, and other natural disasters in the United States.

SBP is on the ground in Hurricane Laura-impacted communities. Those that are most vulnerable to COVID-19 and the economic hardships created by the pandemic are also the most vulnerable post-disaster. Your support will help these families recover more quickly and return to the safety of their homes.

Community Foundation of Southwest Louisiana
The contributions they receive will be granted to nonprofits to pay for food, shelter, medicine, and all the other necessities that help stabilize those in most immediate need. Then they shift to making grants for long-term recovery and for making people and places more resilient for the next time disaster visits.

As always, thank you for being part of our Beloved Community.
